Come and join us for another
exciting community vocal workshop. Be you a beginner, or a
seasoned singer, the workshop is designed for all abilities
from age 16. Take the opportunity to explore your voice and
learn its potential.
The workshop will be delivered by Allan
Robert Petker of California. Allan is a published composer,
arranger and choral director, and in 1995 was the American
guest conductor/composer for the Cathedral Choir Tour in England,
sharing the podium with such luminaries as Peter Aston, Norman
Morris, Andrew Carter and John Rutter. He was invited back
to England in 2003 as the featured guest for the National
Association of Choirs annual conference, and is returning
in 2005 as the featured Festival Conductor. Allan frequently
serves as a guest clinician or conductor for publishers, choral
societies, church festivals, state honour choirs and colleges.
In the summer of 1994 he formed the Consort
Chorale, an a cappella ensemble of 40 select voices
from the San Francisco Bay area, which maintains an on-going
concert series. In January of 2004 he became the Artistic
Director of the Santa Clarita Master
Chorale, a 65-member auditioned ensemble. Previously,
he served as the director of the Bakersfield Symphony Singers,
the choral arts affiliate of the Bakersfield
Symphony Orchestra. He served as director of the community
choir in Myrtle Point, Oregon and was on the faculty of South
Western Oregon Community College. He currently directs the
College and Community Choir at Marymount
College (Los Angeles area).
